7098 miles away on the far side of the world lies a 300 million year old colossus of rock, 4.33 miles high (6962m) called Aconcagua, the highest mountain outside of Asia and one of the fabled 'Seven Summits', (the highest peaks of the seven continents)
Aconcagua mountain is the highest mountain in the American continent, and this is why it is known worldwide, although its reputation is mainly due to its wonderful climbing attractions.
According to what some international climbers who have climbed in the Himalayas say, the almost seven thousand meters of Aconcagua represent both psychologically and physically the ascent of an 8000 meter mountain.
This is due to some known as well as unknown reasons.
These factors, added to the long uninhabited distances, the general desert-like aspect and the isolation from any kind of help, undoubtedly bear important consequences on human beings. All this contributes to making Mt Aconcagua an ideal training ground for measuring strength and training required to ascend mountains over 8000 meters.

Situated between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea Mt. Elbrus rises majestically 5642m from the high green plains that stretch northward into the heartland of Russia. Just to the south of the peak lies the main body of the Caucasus Mountains, a range that rivals the Alps with its stark rugged beauty. Our adventures begin many miles to the north of Mt. Elbrus in Moscow - the political, economic, and cultural heart of Russia. We walk across the cobblestones of Red Square, beneath the shadows of St. Basil's onion-shaped domes, and cross through the thick walls of the Kremlin to visit the seat of Russian power.
We then fly south to the town of Mineralnye Vody, known for its abundant mineral springs. A three-hour drive brings us to the Baksan Valley, sitting at the foot of Mt. Elbrus and surrounded on all sides by the soaring peaks of the Caucasus. After adjusting to the altitude while hiking in the valley, We use the mountain’s rolling glaciers surrounding the hut to review our mountaineering skills and continue our acclimatization in preparation for our summit bid. The route takes us up the broad flanks of Mt. Elbrus north side to the West Summit, the mountain's highest point. The ascent is a moderate snow climb that presents minimal technical difficulty but the altitudes to which we go make the climb a challenging undertaking. This is an ideal trip for climbers aiming to build their altitude experience while climbing one of the Seven Summits.

The Yorkshire 3 Peaks is a 25 mile circular challenge walk that must be completed in under 12 hours to qualify for membership of the exclusive Yorkshire 3 peaks club. The Three Peaks of Yorkshire normally starts and finishes at Horton-in-Ribblesdale, visiting the three highest peaks in Yorkshire - Pen-y-ghent (691m), Whernside (728m), and Ingleborough (723m). The total distance may vary slightly, as there are a few minor route options, but for most the walk will be just under 25 miles.
Although walkers will often not be too far from civilisation, this long walk is still demanding, and is not a way-marked route, especially when crossing the moors, and on the summits if visibility is poor. The total climb is some 5,200 feet, and the footpaths can be very wet and boggy in some places, rugged and rocky in others.
This walking challenge makes excellent training for bigger and longer challenges, such as the national Three Peaks of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, or for more demanding challenges such as Kilimanjaro or the Welsh 3000’s.

The mountains climbed, in order of elevation, are Ben Nevis in Western Scotland, 1,344 metres (4,409 ft), Snowdon in North Wales, 1,085 metres (3,560 ft), and Scafell Pike in North-Western England, 978 metres (3,209 ft). In all the challenge involves some 42 kilometres (26 mi) of ascent and descent, with total travel approaching 765 kilometres (475 mi). The challenge is usually undertaken starting with Ben Nevis, the highest, and for many the most distant.

The Way of the Roses is the longest of Great Britain's coast-to-coast, long-distance cycle routes and is based on minor roads, disused railway lines and specially constructed cycle paths. It lies entirely within the counties of Lancashire and Yorkshire, crossing the Yorkshire Dales and the Yorkshire Wolds in the north of England, passing through the historic cities of Lancaster and York and scenic towns and villages including Settle, Grassington, Pateley Bridge and Ripon.
At 171 miles (270 km) long, the route is designed for the whole range of cyclists, from families to cycling club riders. Although a challenge with some hard climbs—the highest point being over 1,312 feet (400 m) the route is increasingly popular.
